Gayle at Toadstools
Nov 12: We Stayed at Route 66 Casino outside Albuquerque, New Mexico
Nov 13: Arrived in Page today. Nice to see Bob and to meet his brother Rick, and his Dad, Bob. Spent a nice evening around the campfire....delightful as there's definitely a chill in the evening air.
Nov14: Did some great hiking today with Bob and Rick. Went to Toadstool Canyon, where the rocks look like gigantic toadstools that were stacked by hand to resemble mushrooms. But they're HUGE, as you can see by the pic.
Bob and Rick kept insisting on scaring me to death by jumping over gaps in the rocks. They shouldn't scare old people. It confuses them.
Nov 15: Spent most of today catching up on emails and doing laundry, those little tasks that follow you everywhere. Fortunately we managed to get short bike ride in before getting down to business.
Nov 16: Hiked today along the Chains Trail to the Hanging Gardens, which were spectacular. Rich, heavy ferns sprouting out the side of the canyon under an overhang that seemed to go on forever. And it's the only green you see for miles.
Gayle and Wilson enjoying Lake Powell
We also worked our way down to the water, climbing down the huge boulders and over areas of sand. Wilson knew there was water and by darn he was gonna do whatever he had to go get into it. And he was in a matter of minutes. It was freezing cold buy he couldn't have cared less.
Eric biking on Rimview Trail....Yikes!
Nov. 17: We had planned to take off today but were having so much fun we decided to stay another day. We had an enjoyable but scary ride along Rimview Trail during the day. Then a fun evening around the fire pit with everyone.
Nov 18: And today we're off. Eric drove 5 hrs after our noon departure, and we're now parked at a casino in Mesquite, NV. I'm considering going in and making a small donation at the Blackjack table. I'm usually in and out in minutes. We'll see.....
